Have You Signed Your Student Up for Busing?

Bennington Public Schools will be mapping out bus routes and communicating stops to families the week before school starts. In order to have the most accurate routes possible, all bus registrations need to be completed by Thursday, August 7th.

BPS provides free transportation to students living more than four (4) miles from their assigned school. Transportation is also available to students living less than four (4) miles and more than one (1) mile from their assigned school for a fee. The cost of transportation is $175.00 per semester per student ($350.00 maximum per semester per family). Payments may be made by the month, by the semester, or annually.

If you qualify for transportation services or would like to sign up, you may complete the request through the Student Verification process. When asked how your student will be getting to and from school, select “Bus”. You will be notified by mail by the Transportation Department with pick up times and locations the week before school starts.

Bus Pass Reminders

All students are required to have a bus pass to ride the bus.

Bus passes are good through a student’s senior year. 
  • If your student rode the bus last year, please find their pass for them to use it on the first day of school. 
  • If you are not able to locate your student’s pass, you can purchase a replacement for $25. To request a replacement pass, please contact your student’s building secretary. 

Bus passes for NEW riders will be available at the school’s back to school night if you were registered for bussing by August 7th. 
  • There is no fee for the initial bus pass for new riders.
  • If you registered after August 7th and do not have any outstanding transportation fees, the transportation department will start working on adding your student to the bus route and creating a bus pass if they are a new rider. This may take up to 72 hours to complete before your student will be able to start riding the bus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my student be able to ride the first day of school?
If you have completed the online student verification and signed them up for the bus by August 7th and do not have any outstanding transportation fees, yes, your student will be able to ride the bus on the first day of school. 

What if I signed my student up after August 7th?
If your student does not have any outstanding transportation fees, the transportation department will start working on adding your student to the bus route and creating a bus pass if they are a new rider. This may take up to 72 hours to complete before your student will be able to start riding the bus. 

When will I receive my student’s bus route?
Families will receive a letter with the times and locations of pick-ups and drop-offs for each route. In order to ensure routes are as accurate as possible, letters will not be mailed until the week before school starts.

When will my student receive their bus pass?
If your student rode the bus last year, they will need to continue to use the previous bus pass. 
If your student is a NEW bus rider, you will receive their bus pass at back to school night if you registered by August 7th. 

How do I get a replacement bus pass if we lost the one from last year?
If you are not able to locate your student’s pass, you can purchase a replacement for $25. To request a replacement pass, please contact your student’s building secretary. 

What if I have an outstanding transportation balance? Can my student ride the bus?
If you have an outstanding balance from the previous year, your student will not be added to a bus route. All balances need to be paid prior to being added to the routes. If you have an outstanding balance, you will not receive route information in the mail. Please contact the Transportation Department at 402-238-2902 if you have any questions.
